Mind-Boggling Phenomena

There is an inexplicable phenomena going on right now which has baffled scientists, astronauts and the intelligenstia alike. A rather serious issue which has perplexed the minds of scholared academics everywhere. An issue, that involves each and everyone of us. An act, endemic in our every day lives, prevalent in our daily household.
What the hell happens to the socks in the dryer? Where do they go? We put them in, pair by pair, yet half of them come out in singles. As if we were throwing married couples in there who, during wrinkle-free cycle, decided to get a divorce.
So what happens to these "missing" socks? This has baffled scientists for years. I don't expect you to have an answer. Perhaps there is a sock universe in the dryer machine?( much akin to the explanation Seinfeld gives to us) Maybe, a sock community, built into each and every universal dryer, which takes the socks back to where they originally belong, in sock land, with Lamb Chop.
